What is your favorite Morbid Angel album, why ?

It's a tough choice, but my vote goes to Blessed Are The Sick....the riffing on the album is just so vicious and twisted....its where Trey really started to express his own style. Also, the vocal melodies are great and very memorable on this album.

(Covenant is a CLOSE second for me)

Altars of fucking Madness, of course. "Blessed" is a really good, close second. Nothing else comes close, although I have some affection for "Gateways" out of all their latter day albums.

Really?? I can't fucking stand "Gateways".... very boring to me.
I do really enjoy "F.F.t.d.F" a whole lot. I think if David Vincent would've sung on it, it would be an undisputed classic. That is a fucking INTENSE album, with Trey's best solo's, IMO

"Blessed" was one of the first couple of death metal recordings I ever heard, and it's impact has never weakened. No question, this is my favorite Morbid Angel release.

I also want to put in a good word for Covenant, because I know it will not get many votes. For whatever reason that album has always been the "angriest" of death metal albums. The vocals are so fucking enraged it sounds like Vincent is about to fucking kill someone. Pain Divine, Rapture, god fucking damn what an amazing album.

The first 3 are just perfect death metal. Unfuckingstoppable.

I like the slow, heavy thing which they don't do much of usually, and the genuinely cosmic vibe. It's a weird album. I don't like it for remotely the same reasons I like any of their others. "Formulas" is better on paper (and way more intense) but I find myself listening to "Gateways" more often.

Alters of Madness is one of the greatest Death Metal albums of all time.

In my opinion they have not released a bad album yet. Although I was not impressed with Heretic the first few listens, Now I think it's a underrated masterpiece. genius guitar playing indeed. I can't wait for new material to be released.

Altars Of Madness is the correct answer.

That's the only Morbid Angel album that really gets me excited. The others are kinda boring, and just seem to drone one, IMO.

Covenant is a very very close second for me. I know what you mean about the vocals.... the epitome of this can be seen in "The Lions Den"..... ( KILL THEM ALL, KILL THEM ALL FOR SPLENDOR....)

I've never encountered any 'hate' for Covenant. I know a few of my friends say it is their favorite.

I was really into Gateways when it came out...I loved the whole vibe of it, very 'swamp' like.... however, over the years I have grown to hate the album. I tried listening to it again about a year ago and I still can't stand it.

I knew someone would catch this sooner rather than later.

...yeah, I know Crying or Very sad

It was too late when I posted the poll. Now it won't let me add another option...unless I'm missing something?
