I'm in. Can't wait for this one. The Chasm are a truly unique band, nobody sounds quite like them.

Long as we're talking The Chasm, does anyone know if there has ever been any talk of reissuing the first two albums? I saw "Lost Years" on eBay recently and it went for over $200... I want it, but screw that.

Answered my own question - or rather Daniel Corchado did. He e-mailed me and said if sales of the new album go well, he will hopefully do reissues of both albums early next year! That is great news to me.

Tzimisce: thanks for the info. Earache must be completely braindead...but there is already a thread about this issue... Sad
Pre-ordered the CD. $14 incl. postage to Germany is ok with the actual $<=> exchange rate.

Funny how times change. I used to stock that CD at a record store I worked at about 10 years ago, and I don't think we sold a single copy during the 2 years I worked there.

Yeah, The Chasm are one of those bands whose back catalog value soared due to the internet. I think people talking them up plus of course the existence of eBay and Amazon drove up prices. The revival of death metal this decade certainly helped too. On the plus side, I bet the band sells more albums now than they ever have before... hopefully this new one will sell a ton of copies and put some cash in Daniel's pockets.

Maybe it had something to do with the horrible cover art. Could that be a contributing factor to the Chasm remaining so unknown for so long? I mean the Chasm are fucking great but some of those covers were REALLLLLLY bad. If I saw some of that computerized shit in a record shop and didn't know the band no way I would pick it up.

I'm sure it didn't help! Too bad those guys couldn't have gotten signed to a reasonable label that would have commissioned Seagrave or somebody like that to do art for them.

A little bit off topic, but THE CHASM were fucking amazing when I saw them at the 1998 Milwaukee Metal Fest! I was FAR more impressed with them than with the US debuts of EMPEROR and MAYHEM...
